Driver pay for Uber & Bolt fleets

Driver pay from Uber and Bolt data: how to get it right

Start with each driver's platform revenue on Uber and Bolt and subtract the platform fees: that is your company's revenue. Apply the agreed driver share or hourly wage, check the result against the German minimum wage times hours worked, then settle the cash the driver already collected and any tips.

Plus a cash balance of 535.00 that the driver hands over or that is offset. Your payroll provider calculates wage tax and social contributions.

The formula

Five steps from platform revenue to driver pay

Whether your drivers earn a share of revenue or an hourly wage, the order of the calculation never changes. Stick to it and you catch mistakes before your drivers do.

  1. Combine platform revenue per driver

Export fares from Uber Fleet and Bolt Fleet for exactly the same period and assign every trip to the right driver. Driver changes in the same car and different weekly cut-offs on each platform cause most errors.

Uber + Bolt = platform revenue
  2. Subtract platform fees

Uber and Bolt keep a commission. Only what is left is the revenue your company actually works with. Take the fee from the platform report, not from an estimated percentage.

platform revenue − fees = company revenue
  3. Apply the pay model

With a revenue share, take the agreed percentage of company revenue. With an hourly wage, multiply timesheet hours by the agreed rate. The employment contract decides which applies.

share × company revenue · or · hours × rate
  4. Check against the minimum wage

Multiply recorded hours by the statutory Mindestlohn: EUR 13.90 gross per hour since 1 January 2026. If the driver share falls short, you owe a top-up. In the example above that is 37.60.

    gross wage = max(pay, hours × 13.90)
  5. Settle cash and tips

Cash trips count towards platform revenue, but the driver already holds the money. In-app tips are paid out to you by the platform and belong to the driver. Keep both separate from the wage and settle them transparently.

    tips − cash = balance
Spreadsheet vs. automated

Why spreadsheets break down at around six drivers

With two drivers a spreadsheet is quick. With twelve, you copy two CSV exports every week, hunt for cash trips and match timesheets sent over WhatsApp. Every row is a chance for a typo, and every typo ends up as an argument with a driver.

How the software helps

From platform export to finished pay statement

The software connects your platform accounts, creates the timesheets and runs the five steps above for every driver. You review the result and pass it to payroll.

FAQ

Questions about driver pay for Mietwagen fleets

How do I calculate a driver's pay from Uber and Bolt data?

Add up the driver's Uber and Bolt fares for the same period and subtract the platform fees. That gives your company's revenue. Apply the agreed pay model (revenue share or hourly wage), check the result against the minimum wage times hours worked, and finally settle cash and tips. This is a general method, not tax or legal advice.

How do I handle cash the driver collected on Uber or Bolt trips?

Cash trips are part of platform revenue, but the money is already with the driver. Show the cash total per driver separately and offset it against what you owe the driver, such as in-app tips. Ask your payroll provider how the offset is treated for wage tax.

What is the German minimum wage for drivers in 2026 and 2027?

The statutory minimum wage (Mindestlohn) is EUR 13.90 gross per hour from 1 January 2026 and EUR 14.60 gross per hour from 1 January 2027 (§ 1 MiLoV5). With a revenue share, check every pay period that pay divided by hours worked reaches this rate.

Which working hours do I have to record for my drivers?

Passenger transport is one of the sectors listed in § 2a SchwarzArbG (the German act against undeclared work). For these sectors, § 17 MiLoG requires employers to record the start, end and duration of daily working time by the end of the seventh calendar day after the work and to keep the records for at least two years. The MiLoDokV exemption only applies above a steady monthly gross pay of EUR 4,461, or EUR 2,974 if that amount was demonstrably paid for the last twelve full months.

Is there a template for driver pay statements?

We do not offer a downloadable spreadsheet template. The structure is on this page: platform revenue, platform fee, driver share or hourly wage, minimum wage check, cash and tips. A spreadsheet is fine for a few drivers. From about six drivers on, copying Uber and Bolt exports by hand costs hours every week and creates errors.

What does the software cost and how fast is setup?

From $5.99 per driver per month. Setup takes about 48 hours: upload vehicles and drivers, then connect Uber Fleet and Bolt Fleet. You can try it free for two days, no credit card required.
